This Sunday's ride will be a gravel ride starting in Patagonia. For those not interested/able to join us, I suggest the Dog's Mt. Lemmon ride leaving from LeBuzz at 7:00 am.
We will meet in Patagonia one block to the left or south of the main drag right across from the Gathering Grounds coffee shop. Between the main drag and coffee shop, there is a central area or park and you should park your vehicle there. There are restrooms in the coffee shop, and if you are early enough, have a cup of coffee. From the Sabino Cycles store, the distance is about 60 miles and around a 1:20 drive.
The distance will be 48 miles. Gravel conditions last time were very good - let's hope for the best again.
We will start the ride at 7 am, it will be warm, but a little cooler that Tucson. Frank will have water for us in Lochiel which is at mile 24.
The Coffee Grounds has great baked goods and a good lunch menu. The restaurant has received very high marks every time there!
Please give me a reply so we know to watch for you. See ya there!

Robert "Bob" Lucke, 1956-2017
On February 16th of this year, Bob Lucke was struck by an 18 wheeler that resulted in his death. For those who knew Bob, you knew him as an experienced cyclist whose face always had the smile you see in the above photo. He and Beverly joined the Tucson cycling community a few winters ago and have been active in several clubs and ride groups. Bob loved the outdoors, his family and being an athlete. He had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His favorite quotes were, "I simply insist on enjoying life," and, "full gas never give up!"
Please read below for more information on Robert and his love for cycling.
On Saturday, 4/22, Robert's family and friends are holding a ride in memory of him, and you are asked to join. We will ride to the scene of his accident, 36th, and 6th, for a few moments of reflection and prayer. From there the ride will follow what would have been Robert's ride to his home in Oro Valley. Beverly is hosting a celebration of Robert's life at the ramada across the street from their home.
From AirBnB, Robert's description of his and Beverly's hostel in Montana:
"My Wife and I are Active Adults who enjoy Cycling and Nordic Skiing (skate skiing). We live in a beautiful area, 20 miles from Glacier Park and Flathead Lake in the Heart of the Flathead Valley, Montana. Bob and Beverly are long distance cyclists and Beverly has done long distance bike touring across the western states. Bob races Nordic in the winter and has competed in two World Masters. We are active in Charity rides in the summer. Bob is a Type 1 Diabetic and inspires others with his Lifestyle of Diet and staying active to control his Blood sugar. We insist on enjoying life."
A few more words that Beverly wanted to share:
Bob raced in the 2014 World Time Trial Championships in Borrego Springs, CA, He cycled with Fast Freddie on the Sonora Tour in April of 2013, and rode the Tour de Sol USA race in St. George, Utah, the Huckleberry Hundred in the Flathead Valley, Montana for the last 6 years, a Grand Fondo in Cheney, WA, and several century rides in Idaho, Washington, and California. He was a ride leader for the bike shops in the Whitefish and Kalispell, Montana. His hobby was founding and hosting the Montana Bike Hostel and Camping business at his Montana home located near Glacier International Park. He has two grown, loving daughters and son-in-laws, also residing in Montana.
Words that are proof that Bob was a great guy, husband, father, and cyclist!
Remember to Ride Safely, Responsibly, and Have Fun!!
